Metal Garden Bridge Construction

Every metal garden bridge I fabricate is made principally in mild steel rectangular hollow section and angle. After fabricating the bridge I fit the wooden treads to the bridge. This ensures that the holes will be galvanized. All the treads are carefully sanded at the edges and trimmed to fit around uprights. The wooden treads ( Scandinavian redwood decking sourced from sustainable forests ) have been pressure treated but I also apply  a coat of mid oak preservative which has a low VOC rating.

After removing the wooden treads, I take the bridge to Shropshire Galvanizers where the bridge is galvanized and powder coated. A week later I collect the bridge and deliver it personally to my customer. After siting the bridge to the customer’s satisfaction, I bolt the wooden treads to it. Please note that I use stainless steel bolts and nuts which assists any future need to replace the wooden treads.
